Fire and Smoke Curtain SpecificationIntroduction

Our curtain system consists of the curtain, box sections, channel, bottom rail and a headbox containing a mild steel barrel into which the motor is fitted.
All our curtains are custom-built to fit your specific size requirements.
Operation
Our standard fire/ smoke curtain is provided supply and installation or supply only with automatic operation. The curtains are connected to the alarm system. They are activated when your fire or smoke alarm is triggered.
- Motor
The motor is a patented 24v DC gravity failsafe tubular motor and is controlled through a panel which includes a battery back-up and a warning siren.
- Control Panel And Descent
The control panel requires a 230/240V AC supply @ 50Hz and is capable of (a) delay before descent and (b) split drop delay for smoke containment during evacuation. Once fully descended, the curtain will automatically retract when the alarm signal ceases. In the event of a complete power failure, the curtain will descend under gravity but will retract when power is restored.
- Emergency Controls
An emergency retract switch will be sited each side of the curtain to override the progamme.

Material
The flexible curtain is manufactured from a coated wire reinforced e-glass cloth and sewn with polymer coated stainless steel thread and conforms to BS476-6:1989 + A1:2009 & BS476-7:1997
Our material is manufactured in accordance with with BS 476 Part 22-8 & BS EN 1634 -3. It is tested at 120 minutes integrity at 1000 degrees centigrade. In practical terms we advise that this gives one hour protection as material heated to this temperature in the confines of a building will not comfortably or safely insulate from heat.
Installation
The fire curtain system is delivered complete and ready to install, with the headbox containing the barrel, motor, curtain and bearings assembled and sealed. Other parts to be assembled on site.
- Once installed there is no necessity to have access to the fire curtain. All controls are set from the panel provided
